Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Darlene Love talks about the new biopic that will be made about her, as well as her recent Oscar win for “Best Documentary Feature” for being a part of “20 Feet From Stardom.”

Love will be portrayed by multi-Grammy winner Toni Braxton in the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN)’s debut television movie My Name is Love: The Darlene Love Story, in December of 2014. “I thought that was great since you never really know and you depend on the other people that are in the team to help you choose. I saw Toni in a movie a few years ago called ‘Twist of Faith’ and I thought she was excellent in it. I think Toni is a great singer, so she is actually able to be an actor,” she said.
She was a part of 20 Feet From Stardom, which won the 2014 Academy Award for “Best Documentary Feature,” where Love subsequently received a standing ovation for the tune she sang in the acceptance speech. “That was wonderful in my life,” she exclaimed. “I had no idea the standing ovation was going to happen. If I had known it, I probably wouldn’t have done it, since it would have scared me to death. I chose that song since I didn’t know what else to sing and it was amazing that the audience reacted to it. They respond to things that come from the heart and I was so appreciative of getting the award, and that’s why I got the standing ovation which I surely did not expect.”
