The Story of Love

Top 100 Singers of all time!

Rolling Stone Magazine has proclaimed Darlene Love to be “one of the greatest singers of all time” and that certainly rings true, but perhaps Paul Shaffer says it even more concisely: “Darlene Love is Rock N’ Roll!” – which was made official when she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by Bette Midler, a great fan of her work, in 2011. Through the years, Darlene Love continues to captivate audiences worldwide with her warm, gracious stage presence and superb performances.

"In her 60 year career, Love has backed up more than 200 famous musicians, graced songs as a member of the Blossoms, and of course her own inimitable self."

Since the early sixties, Darlene has appeared on numerous television programs and on Broadway, running the gamut from her weekly appearances on Shindig to a recent guest spot on the PBS special entitled Women Who Rock. An autobiographical film is currently on the drawing board with a development deal from Oprah Winfrey based on the book My Name is Love, written by Darlene.

Her Billboard hits include: He’s A Rebel, The Boy I’m Gonna Marry, Wait ‘Til My Bobby Gets Home, He’s Sure the Boy I Love and the #1 holiday classic Christmas Baby Please Come Home, a song that she performed annually with Paul Shaffer and the CBS Symphony Orchestra on The Late Show With David Letterman for some 29 years before David retired.

To continue this long standing tradition, Darlene performs a number of special Christmas shows every year and continues to enchant her fans with Christmas spirit.

MY BIOGRAPHY

My Name is Love The Darlene Love Story

Whether it was the wild parties Tom Jones used to throw, how Elvis came on to her backstage at his 1968 comeback special, or her love affair with Bill Medley of The Righteous Brothers, Love holds nothing back as she recalls the exciting events that make up her life. This is the dishy and dramatic story of a woman who had it all, lost it all, but never, ever refused to give up.

“...meet me at the hospital at 10. I’ll be operating at 12.”

The day Darlene Love performed at her show in Asbery Park, NJ she woke up with a abdominal pain and a headache. Not wanting to cancel the show, she powered through it and even stayed late to sign autographs on the Jersey Shore. A day later she saw her long time doctor who referred her to a cardiologist who insisted that she head straight to the hospital. Darlene received two heart stents and was released from the hospital on her 71 birthday.
