When it comes to musical comeback stories, few can top Darlene Love.
From odd jobs to singing with Springsteen. From back-up singer to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. From hating the music industry to being loved by virtually everyone in it.
Now, 50 years into a career that’s seen every peak and valley, she’s headlining in Canada for the first time, including Dec. 11 at Brock University’s Sean O’Sullivan Theatre. If you don’t think that’s a big deal to her, guess again.
“I’m very excited,” she beams, on the line from New York. “First time ever as Darlene Love. You know, I’ve been there many times when I was a back-up singer for Dionne Warwick, Tom Jones, you name it. But now to come there on my own is very exciting.”
Even more exciting? She’s bringing her Christmas show. And when it comes to Christmas, Darlene Love takes a back seat to no one.
